| 1985 | The American Cancer Society issues guidelines advocating mammography as a screening procedure for breast cancer. | ||||||||||
| Troubled by American Cancer Society statistics – 40,000 women dying annually from breast cancer – Dr. Larry K. Killebrew and an associate dream of a free standing facility for breast cancer screening, a new concept in Oklahoma. | |||||||||||
| 1986 | OKLAHOMA BREAST CARE CENTER OPENS - The first free standing mammography facility in Oklahoma. | ||||||||||
| 1987 | First to convert from xero-mammography to lo-dose film-screen ensuring less radiation exposure and better detail. | ||||||||||
| Debbie Clark, a successful financial consultant, joins Dr. Killebrew to become the Center’s Executive Director. | |||||||||||

| 1994 | The study, Percutaneous Large-Core Breast Biopsy: A Multi-institutional Study, was published in Radiology. Dr. Killebrew was a co-author of this study. | ||||||||||
| 1995 | The Mammotome, a single insertion technology designed for difficult lesions such as micro-calcifications, is offered by the center - First to offer this service in Oklahoma. |

| 1997 | Oklahoma Breast Care Center adds Osteoporosis Screening services with the acquisition of the DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) Bone Densitometry Scan. | ||||||||||

| 2001 | Replaced second mobile Coach. In February, Dr. Philip Meyer joins the Oklahoma Breast Care Center. Dr. meyer is a graduate of Dartmouth University. |

| 2002 | The Oklahoma Breast Care Center becomes the first in the Southern United States to use Intact (formerly En-bloc), a minimally invasive form of non-surgical biopsy to examine suspicious lesions in the breast. | ||||||||||
| The center begins the use of Computer Aided Detection (CAD), also known as R2 ImageChecker. | |||||||||||
| 2003 | In June, the Oklahoma Breast Care Center website is completed. The address: www.okbreastcare.com. Dr. Paula Deupree joins the Oklahoma Breast Care Center after completion of her breast fellowship at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology. Dr. Deupree is one of only three fellowship trained breast radiologists in Oklahoma. |

In December, the Oklahoma Breast Care Center became the ninth facility in the country to acquire the Aurora Dedicated Breast MRI. Breast MRI has a greater than 95% ability to detect early breast cancer. |

| 2004 | In September, the Oklahoma Breast Care Center opens a second location in the Waterview Office Park in South Oklahoma City. The center offers screening mammography, R2 ImageChecker and DEXA bone densitometry screening. |

The North location of the Oklahoma Breast Care Center undergoes a complete remodel and expansion. In October, a third ultrasound machine was purchased and installed at the North Oklahoma City location. The Oklahoma Breast Care Center begins using VACORA™ Biopsy System which allows a vacuum assisted needle to take samples of tissue. This procedure helps reduce scarring and disfigurement as compared to open surgical biopsies. Rather than stitches a simple bandage is used. A new Hologic DEXA Bone Densitometry machine was installed at the North Oklahoma City location. It allows additional vertebral fracture assessment scans. |

| 2005 | New Lorad mammography equipment is installed on the mobile units. At a special banquet held on September 20th the Oklahoma Breast Care Center and our Medical Director Larry Killebrew, M.D. were recognized by the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce as one of the Oklahoma City Metro 50 list fastest-growing businesses for 2005. We ranked number 40. This was our first time to be in this ranking and a true honor. The Lorad Selenia full field digital mammography system is launched at the North OKC location. |

2006

In March, diagnostic mammography and breast ultrasound begins to be offered at the South location of the Oklahoma Breast Care Center. We became one of the first breast centers in the country to offer the OncoVue Breast Cancer Risk Test. The first genetics based risk test relevant to all women with or without a family history of the disease. In July, the study "Comparison of the diagnostic accuracy of a vacuum assisted percutaneous intact specimen sampling device to a vacuum assisted core needle sampling for breast biopsy: Initial Experience," was published in The Breast Journal. Dr. Killebrew was the author of this study. Our Dedicated Breast MRI, the aurora, is upgraded to a 1.5 Tesla. We installed our second Lorad Selenia Digital Mammography unit at the North OKC location. |

| 2007 | In January we partnered with Grady Memorial Hospital Women’s Imaging Center in Chickasha to provide digital interpretation and “real time” diagnostic services by our specially trained staff of breast radiologists. This is a first in Oklahoma. On May 10th the Lorad Selenia digital mammography full field digital mammography system is launched at the South OKC location. The Lorad Selenia digital mammography full field digital mammography system is launched on both of our two mobile mammography coaches. In September we began our partnership with the Women’s Imaging Center of McAlester Regional Health Center to provide their digital mammography, breast ultrasound and breast MRI interpretation by our specially trained staff of breast radiologists. Dr. Killebrew receives the first ever Pioneer Award by Project Woman Coalition at their annual luncheon fundraiser. |

| 2008 | Dr. Killebrew is recognized by The Journal Record as an Innovator of the Year honoree in the field of healthcare for his innovative approach to bring the highest level of quality digital mammography available today to Oklahoma women with the state's first statewide mobile mammography screening program. He developed this program in 1989 and it has grown to incorporate onsite access to digital mammography screening for corporations, rural towns and hospitals. In June we began our partnership with Ponca City Women's Center at Ponca City Medical Center to provide their digital mammography, breast ultrasound and breast MRI interpretation by our specially trained staff of breast radiologists. In October 2008 Richard G. Falk, Jr., M.D. joined the Oklahoma Breast Care Center team. Dr. Falk previously served as Medical Director at the Comprehensive Breast Center at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. In October, J. Leon Gregston, MD, F.A.C.R. joined the Oklahoma Breast Care Center team.For the last 15 years, Dr. Gregston had served as Medical Director at St. John’s Breast Center in Springfield, MO. |
